We are on our way! OMG!
Our friends David and Toni arrived two days ago, to take over the house, and care for the animals while we are away. We showed them how everything works, and I am happy to say they are quick learners
About what to do, and of course what not to do…..rule number one: espresso machines build up a lot of pressure….
But really, all joking aside, David and Toni are near and dear friends and we couldn’t have better house sitters, despite appearances. David even managed to lure the elusive Agnes from outside and into his arms last night. And Toni didn’t cringe when I showed her the chicken coop cleaning routine.
Manuel is also taking care of things for us; he brought home armloads of lavender yesterday, and I showed him how to dry it, so we can make lavender oil when I get back in August. It was his birthday, so we had a great party, with Andrea’s homemade enchiladas, a collaborative Toni/Caryn carrot cake, and a large contingency of Manuel and Andrea’s family. We celebrated, introduced Toni and David properly to the village, and said our farewells.
My dad forwarded me your blog. I’m so excited to follow along on your trip.
What! No picture of your suitcase?
